And watched the fire works explode in the sky

We hebben de auto naar de top van de parkeerhelling gereden

4 juli

Op de motorkap gezeten met een paar warme biertjes

En zag hoe het vuurwerk explodeerde in de lucht

En er was een uittocht van vogels in de bomen

Omdat ze niet wisten dat we alleen maar deden alsof

En de mensen keken allemaal op en keken tevreden

En de vogels vlogen rond alsof de hele wereld verging

Ik denk niet dat oorlog nobel is

En ik denk niet graag dat liefde als oorlog is

Maar ik heb een grote hete kersenbom

En ik wil het door de brievenbus laten glijden

Van je voordeur

En nu kun je me hier niet achterlaten

Ik heb je rug nu

Je kunt maar beter de mijne hebben

Omdat je zegt dat de kust vrij is

Maar dat zeg je de hele tijd

Zoveel schapen dat ik ben gestopt met tellen

Slapeloos en beschaamd

Over hoe ik me voel

Van bergen proberen mollenheuvels te maken

Basiskamp bouwen aan de onderkant

Van een heel groot probleem

Heb ik je ooit verteld hoe ik ben gestopt met eten?

Toen je stopte met me te bellen

Ik was verkrampt

En wekenlang over rivieren schijten

En doen alsof ik eindelijk vrij was

En je kunt me hier niet achterlaten

Ja nu je terug bent

Je kunt deze keer beter blijven

Omdat je zegt dat de kust vrij is

Maar dat zeg je de hele tijd

Ik heb de auto naar de top van de oprit gereden
