As darkness whitened into a day

Waad over uitgestrekte sneeuwvelden

Reis door eindeloze heide

De dood liep vandaag over de aarde

Zonder geluid, bewegingsloos

Dwong zijn weg naar mijn armen

Heeft me gestreeld met het donker

Opnieuw naar boven gesleept

Uit de ingewanden van de aarde

Om nog een ochtend tegemoet te gaan

Naar adem happende zwarte stoom van de dood

Dit zijn onze wakkere uren. In koud zonlicht smachten we weg
