When he gets home from work, it’s well after seven

But he drives a nice car so he thinks he’s in Heaven

And in just a few hours more overtime he can pay-off that boat

And they’ve got nice big houses, and they’ve got nice big cars

And it looks, from the outside, like they’re really going far

But there’s trouble in the engine and we’re junkyard-bound

If some moms and some dads don’t start hanging around

When they get around to dinner they’re damn near half-dead

So they drive through McDonald’s and put the kids off to bed

But they’re upwardly mobile and everything is fine

'Cause when they do get together, it’s quality time

And they’ve got nice big houses, and they’ve got nice big cars

And it looks, from the outside, like they’re really going far

But there’s trouble in the engine and we’re junkyard-bound

If some moms and some dads don’t start hanging around

They want stickers on the music, they want the laws turned around

They want the cops to run Beavis and Butthead outta town

They say they care about their children, but it’s just too damn hard

To turn off that TV or sell off that car

There’s a whole lot of people who can’t make ends meet

And on the wages that they’re earning, I know a family can’t eat

Maar er is een probleem in de motor en we zijn gebonden aan een autokerkhof

Als sommige moeders en sommige vaders niet rondhangen

Als ze aan het avondeten zijn, zijn ze bijna halfdood

Dus ze rijden door McDonald's en brengen de kinderen naar bed

Maar ze zijn opwaarts mobiel en alles is in orde

Want als ze samenkomen, is het quality time

En ze hebben mooie grote huizen, en ze hebben mooie grote auto's

En van buitenaf lijkt het alsof ze echt ver gaan

Maar er is een probleem in de motor en we zijn gebonden aan een autokerkhof

Als sommige moeders en sommige vaders niet rondhangen

Ze willen stickers op de muziek, ze willen dat de wetten worden omgedraaid

Ze willen dat de politie Beavis and Butthead de stad uitjaagt

Ze zeggen dat ze om hun kinderen geven, maar het is gewoon te verdomd moeilijk

Die tv uitzetten of die auto verkopen

En ze hebben mooie grote huizen, en ze hebben mooie grote auto's

En van buitenaf lijkt het alsof ze echt ver gaan

Maar er is een probleem in de motor en we zijn gebonden aan een autokerkhof

Als sommige moeders en sommige vaders niet rondhangen

Er zijn heel veel mensen die niet rond kunnen komen

En van het loon dat ze verdienen, weet ik dat een gezin niet kan eten

Maar ik heb het over mensen die de ziel van hun kind zouden verkopen

Om gelijke tred te houden met de Jones', ongeacht de tol

En ze hebben mooie grote huizen, en ze hebben mooie grote auto's

Als ze samenkomen, is het quality time
