No Small Wonder - Bob Geldof

I got home late last night about 8

There was nothing on the T.V. as usual

Just the normal repeats and things

I had the City Prices edition of the Evening Standard

Which was not as good as the Late Night one

Mainly because it doesn’t have the full cinema listings

To be more specific it doesn’t have the Fulham ABC

Which is my local

So I walked over to Battersea Park

Down by the Sri Chimnoy Mile

Past the Peace Pagoda

It’s good

You can have a personal religious experience

And get healthy at the same time

Which obviously is important for a busy man like me

Well another moment in life’s great adventure

It’s no small wonder

I hope you weren’t offended by what happened last night

It was the awkward hour

And I didn’t know what to do

Whether ot come on or just leave it

To be honest I wasn’t that interested

And I didn’t think you were either

So I went back to my place

And you went back to yours

And I got into bed

And started reading a book

By a guy called Tobias Woolf

It’s good it’s short stories

Just before you sleep he’ll take

You off to Burma… Mandalay

Places like that

I set the alarm clock ready for another day at work

Another day in life’s great adventure

It’s no small wonder

Ik kwam gisteravond laat thuis rond 8 uur 's ochtends

Er was zoals gewoonlijk niets op de tv

Gewoon de normale herhalingen en zo

Ik had de Stadsprijzen-editie van de Avondstandaard

Wat niet zo goed was als de Late Night-versie

Vooral omdat het niet de volledige bioscooplijst heeft

Om specifieker te zijn, het heeft niet het Fulham ABC

Wat is mijn lokale

Dus liep ik naar Battersea Park

Bij de Sri Chimnoy Mile

Voorbij de Vredespagode

Het is goed

U kunt een persoonlijke religieuze ervaring hebben

En word tegelijkertijd gezond

Wat natuurlijk belangrijk is voor een drukke man als ik

Nou, weer een moment in het grote avontuur van het leven

Het is geen klein wonder

Ik hoop dat je niet beledigd was door wat er gisteravond is gebeurd

Het was het ongemakkelijke uur

En ik wist niet wat ik moest doen

Of je nu komt of gewoon laat

Om eerlijk te zijn was ik niet zo geïnteresseerd

En ik dacht dat jij dat ook niet was

Dus ging ik terug naar mijn plaats

En je ging terug naar de jouwe

En ik ging naar bed

En begon een boek te lezen

Door een man genaamd Tobias Woolf

Het is goed dat het korte verhalen zijn

Net voordat je gaat slapen neemt hij

Je gaat naar Birma... Mandalay

Zulke plaatsen

Ik zet de wekker klaar voor een nieuwe werkdag

Weer een dag in het grote avontuur van het leven

Het is geen klein wonder
