-My name is Ástor Piazzolla, I was born in Argentina, I was raised in New York

and my parents come from Trani, Italia.

-And this strange instrument you see here that many people say it’s an

accordion, it’s not an accordion, it’s a bandoneon.

It’s an instrument that was

invented in Germany in 1854 to play religious music in a church.

It started in a church and then, a couple of years later, they took it to the

whorehouses in Buenos Aires.

And now I’m taking it to Central Park.

-Mijn naam is Ástor Piazzolla, ik ben geboren in Argentinië, ik ben opgegroeid in New York

en mijn ouders komen uit Trani, Italië.

-En dit vreemde instrument dat je hier ziet, waarvan veel mensen zeggen dat het een...

accordeon, het is geen accordeon, het is een bandoneon.

Het is een instrument dat was

uitgevonden in Duitsland in 1854 om religieuze muziek te spelen in een kerk.

Het begon in een kerk en een paar jaar later brachten ze het naar de

hoerenhuizen in Buenos Aires.

En nu breng ik het naar Central Park.

-Het is een mooie tour voor dit instrument.

-En het is geen grap, ik probeer niet grappig te zijn, het is het echte leven hiervan

instrument.
