Now there is no room for doubt

You chew it up and spit it out

And you even start to think

You know what you’re about

Then it comes out of nowhere

And it pins you to the floor

It’s a defeaning roar

And you cannot be sure

If it’s the monster under your bed

Or the voices in your head

Screaming like that

'cause you thought the voices were dead

That the monster had left with your old single bed

Now there is no time to waste

You’re getting older every day

But you take another look

And you’re fifteen again

And you’re so scared of everyone

Unless they’re uglier than you

And you’re ashamed of what you’re up to And you cannot be sure

If it’s the monster under your bed

Or the voices in your head

Screaming like that

'cause you thought that the voices were dead

That the monster had left with your old single bed

And now it’s so far so good

So why do I feel no different?

Give me a reason

It’s always one step forward and two steps back

I can’t help it I obey, I obey, I obey

I obey that old monster anyway

Now I think he was your friend once

You needed him I guess

Needed his protection

Nut now he is your hindrance

He is the one who stops you

From saying how you feel

And cover up what’s real

And you cannot be sure

Nu is er geen ruimte voor twijfel

Je kauwt erop en spuugt het uit

En je begint zelfs te denken

Je weet waar je het over hebt

Dan komt het uit het niets

En het houdt je vast aan de vloer

Het is een vernederend gebrul

En je kunt er niet zeker van zijn

Als het het monster onder je bed is

Of de stemmen in je hoofd

Zo schreeuwen

omdat je dacht dat de stemmen dood waren

Dat het monster was vertrokken met je oude eenpersoonsbed

Nu is er geen tijd te verliezen

Je wordt elke dag ouder

Maar kijk nog eens

En je bent weer vijftien

En je bent zo bang voor iedereen

Tenzij ze lelijker zijn dan jij

En je schaamt je voor wat je van plan bent En je weet het niet zeker

Als het het monster onder je bed is

Of de stemmen in je hoofd

Zo schreeuwen

omdat je dacht dat de stemmen dood waren

Dat het monster was vertrokken met je oude eenpersoonsbed

En nu is het tot nu toe zo goed

Dus waarom voel ik me niet anders?

Geef me een reden

Het is altijd een stap vooruit en twee stappen terug

Ik kan er niets aan doen ik gehoorzaam, ik gehoorzaam, ik gehoorzaam

Ik gehoorzaam toch aan dat oude monster

Nu denk ik dat hij ooit je vriend was

Je had hem nodig denk ik

Had zijn bescherming nodig

Nu is hij je hindernis

Hij is degene die je tegenhoudt

Door te zeggen hoe je je voelt

En verdoezelen wat echt is

En je kunt er niet zeker van zijn

Als het het monster onder je bed is

Of de stemmen in je hoofd

Zo schreeuwen

omdat je dacht dat de stemmen dood waren
