O the stories we could tell, my adventurous friend

And the perils that we faced on our journey homeward

We were sailing in the open and the storm was coming fast

So we jumped up to our posts, but the rudder split in half

So here comes the wave

It came crashing on the deck, twisted up the sail

But then we saw the land and we jumped into the sea

Let the wind blow, rescued in each other’s arms

We watched the sun rise up again

So we marched into the day, our machetes lifted high

Blazing through the thorny vines on our journey homeward

But we heard the distant cry and we saw the cloud of smoke

But by then it was too late, and we couldn’t turn around

So here comes the fire

We were coughing as we ran, trees fell in the path

But then we saw the rocks and we climbed 'til we were free

Let the wind blow, you pulled me up into your arms

We watched the sun rise up again

O de verhalen die we konden vertellen, mijn avontuurlijke vriend

En de gevaren waarmee we werden geconfronteerd op onze reis naar huis

We zeilden in de open lucht en de storm kwam snel op

Dus we sprongen naar onze berichten, maar het roer spleet in tweeën

Dus hier komt de golf

Het kwam neer op het dek, draaide het zeil op

Maar toen zagen we het land en sprongen we in de zee

Laat de wind waaien, gered in elkaars armen

We hebben de zon weer zien opkomen

Dus we marcheerden de dag in, onze machetes hoog geheven

Blazen door de doornige wijnstokken op onze reis naar huis

Maar we hoorden de verre kreet en we zagen de rookwolk

Maar tegen die tijd was het te laat en konden we niet meer omdraaien

Dus hier komt het vuur

We hoesten terwijl we renden, bomen vielen op het pad

Maar toen zagen we de rotsen en klommen we tot we vrij waren

Laat de wind waaien, je trok me in je armen

We hebben de zon weer zien opkomen
