A big part of success is just not being fucking lazy and just doing it

90% of it is just showing up, get there, and start working

If I only worked out when I felt good, I’d be a fat fuck

It’s pretty much the same with everybody that actually gets good at something

There’s gotta be those days you push through

They’re probably gonna be more numerous than the days you don’t

And so the benefit of discipline in my eyes has always been that through

I’m like the most lazy disciplined person I know, because I don’t wanna do it

I also think that discipline is a pathway to creativity

When you’re on the battlefield

Is an absolute exercise in creativity

How are we gonna attack them?

How will we get this organized?

How are we gonna get in their heads?

That’s all just massive creativity

And when I look at people that are artists

I would imagine the more disciplined you are, you gotta write stuff down,

you gotta read, you gotta increase your vocabulary so that you are quicker and

sharper, so that when people are saying things, you have more words to battle

back at them

All those things, all that freedom that you get on stage, comes from the

discipline

You study, you learn, you read, you write, you talk, you go through things

You’re a pro and you go to work and you have pride in that

And then when you are in front of that keyboard, you look down at the count

Well, you might have a day where you just write nothing but dog shit

So what?

Show up again tomorrow, and tomorrow outta that dog shit a flower will

emerge

Het helpt je om dingen voor elkaar te krijgen

En wanneer u dingen voor elkaar krijgt, wanneer u dingen daadwerkelijk doet

Je hebt meer succes

Een groot deel van succes is gewoon niet lui zijn en het gewoon doen

90% ervan komt gewoon opdagen, ga erheen en begin te werken

Alsof je je niet elke dag perfect gaat voelen

Als ik alleen zou sporten als ik me goed voelde, zou ik een dikke lul zijn

Want er zijn veel dagen dat ik het niet wil doen

Het is vrijwel hetzelfde met iedereen die echt ergens goed in wordt

Er moeten van die dagen zijn dat je doorzet

Ze zullen waarschijnlijk talrijker zijn dan de dagen dat je dat niet doet

En dus is het voordeel van discipline in mijn ogen altijd zo geweest

Ik denk ook dat discipline een weg is naar creativiteit

Wanneer je op het slagveld bent

Is een absolute oefening in creativiteit

Hoe gaan we ze aanvallen?

Hoe gaan we dit regelen?

Hoe komen we in hun hoofd?

Dat is allemaal gewoon enorme creativiteit

En als ik kijk naar mensen die artiesten zijn

Ik kan me voorstellen dat hoe meer gedisciplineerd je bent, je dingen moet opschrijven,

je moet lezen, je moet je woordenschat vergroten, zodat je sneller en

scherper, zodat wanneer mensen dingen zeggen, je meer woorden hebt om tegen te vechten

terug naar hen

Al die dingen, al die vrijheid die je op het podium krijgt, komt van de...

Je studeert, je leert, je leest, je schrijft, je praat, je gaat door dingen heen

En buiten dat werk bloeien edelstenen

Nou, misschien heb je een dag waarop je alleen maar hondenpoep schrijft

En dan?

Kom morgen weer opdagen, en morgen zal uit die hondenpoep een bloem komen
