The wilderness will wait

Said I’d be back again

While I seek the crowds

While I’m on the stage

In life there is a time

For everything

And there with open arms

The wilderness will wait

Wait for my return

While my oats are being sowed

In the city lights

In the arms of boys and girls

Youth it is a time

For the exterior

But in the hollow of a tree

The forest waits for me

Wherever I may roam

Berlin, Paris or Stockholm

A piece of forest comes with me

And watches silently

All my little wins

And great disappointments

Together it reassures

That soon we will return

De wildernis zal wachten

Zei dat ik weer terug zou komen

Terwijl ik de drukte zoek

Terwijl ik op het podium sta

In het leven is er een tijd

Voor alles

En daar met open armen

Wacht op mijn terugkomst

Terwijl mijn haver wordt gezaaid

In de stadslichten

In de armen van jongens en meisjes

Jeugd het is een tijd

Voor de buitenkant

Maar in de holte van een boom

Het bos wacht op mij

Waar ik ook mag zwerven

Berlijn, Parijs of Stockholm

Er gaat een stuk bos mee

En kijkt stil

Al mijn kleine overwinningen

En grote teleurstellingen

Samen stelt het gerust

Dat we snel zullen terugkeren
