een romantisch poëtisch type of zo zeggen ze

maar ik vind het moeilijk om uit te drukken wat ik voor je voel

zonder betrokken te raken bij de oude clichés.

In de oude clichés zijn het de oude clichés.

Dit nummer is al zo vaak begonnen, maar nooit

op een manier die je niet als een oud cliché zult beschouwen.

Ik wil zeggen dat ik je nodig heb, ik mis je als je weg bent.

En hoe het leek op het lot - o, daar gaan we - dezelfde oude clichés.

Het zijn dezelfde oude clichés.

Het is niet dat ik me schaam of verlegen, nou, je kent me te goed

maar ik wil dit nummer speciaal maken op een manier die je kunt zien.

Dat het alleen voor jou is en voor niemand anders

voor mijn beste vriend, mijn minnaar, als ik hulp nodig heb — cliché — cliché?
