I’m sick of trembling in fear at the idea of death

Since it’s always on my mind I just hide in my bed

«Everybody's scared of it» is what my therapist said

But my case seems worse, when I’ve barely been fed

Because the kitchen’s too far to desire the steps

It’d take to make it down the stairs and try to find a baguette

Or something similar that wouldn’t make my stomach upset

It doesn’t feel like this is real, yeah, my mind is a mess

The only times it seems clear is when music is played

Some relatable creator says I’ll soon be okay

Or when reading poetry and trying to soothe the dismay

And I can lose my insecurities in cute little sayings, like

«Why frown when the sun goes down

If you’ll wake in the morning to such nice sounds

When the nighttime creeps, well your eyes might weep

But that’s moonlight tryna find nice people»

Ik ben het beven van angst beu bij het idee van de dood

Omdat ik er altijd aan denk, verstop ik me gewoon in mijn bed

«Iedereen is er bang voor», zei mijn therapeut

Maar mijn geval lijkt erger, als ik amper gevoed ben

Omdat de keuken te ver is om naar de trap te verlangen

Het zou duren om de trap af te komen en een stokbrood te vinden

Of iets soortgelijks waar mijn maag niet van overstuur zou raken

Het voelt niet alsof dit echt is, ja, mijn geest is een puinhoop

De enige keren dat het duidelijk lijkt, is wanneer er muziek wordt afgespeeld

Een herkenbare maker zegt dat het snel goed komt

Of wanneer je poëzie leest en probeert de ontzetting te verzachten

En ik kan mijn onzekerheden kwijtraken in schattige kleine uitspraken, zoals:

«Waarom fronsen als de zon ondergaat

Als je 's ochtends wakker wordt met zulke mooie geluiden

Als de nacht kruipt, kunnen je ogen huilen

Maar dat is maanlicht om aardige mensen te vinden»
