I was feeling creative about twenty to ten

So I sharpened a pencil, then I wore down its end

And now soon you’ll have something to share with your friends

It took twenty minutes to write down this song

I chewed up the pencil, and the eraser’s all gone

Scratched my head and my balls, but it didn’t take long

Song writing’s not so hard, it’s well understood

Anyone can do it, and everyone should

And I’m sure you could write and sing something as good

With some balls and a pencil, I’m sure that you would

A PC’s like a crowbar, it’s only a tool

Music flows like water from a big public pool

But I wanna get paid for my work, but I’m a fool

Because trading and sharing’s so awesome and cool

I don’t mean to be flip, I don’t wanna be pat

And those Metallica guys are all getting too fat!

Ik voelde me creatief rond twintig tot tien

Dus ik heb een potlood geslepen en toen heb ik het einde ervan afgesleten

En nu heb je binnenkort iets om te delen met je vrienden

Het duurde twintig minuten om dit nummer op te schrijven

Ik kauwde op het potlood en de gum is helemaal weg

Ik krabde op mijn hoofd en mijn ballen, maar het duurde niet lang

Liedjes schrijven is niet zo moeilijk, het wordt goed begrepen

Iedereen kan het en iedereen zou het moeten doen

En ik weet zeker dat je zoiets goeds zou kunnen schrijven en zingen

Met wat ballen en een potlood weet ik zeker dat je dat zou doen

Een pc is als een koevoet, het is slechts een hulpmiddel

Muziek stroomt als water uit een groot openbaar zwembad

Maar ik wil betaald worden voor mijn werk, maar ik ben een dwaas

Omdat handelen en delen zo geweldig en cool is

Ik wil niet flip zijn, ik wil geen pat zijn

En die Metallica-jongens worden allemaal te dik!

Gratis informatie, ja, wat is daar mis mee?

Iets voor niets, daar gaat het om
