First Snow Of The Year - Hawksley Workman

It’s the first snow of the year guess it happens once a year oh glory and dogs

in the

neighborhood are going crazy and even all the old ones that are usually lazy i

wonder will it stay for good i wonder will it be here in the morning when i wake

up to meet the day will the fresh white snow still around me lay i know that by

february my thoughts on snow will be contrary but this is now and then is then

so

put the bicycles away and clear the walkways with a borrowed shovel and i heard

this year was gonna be trouble if you thought last year was bad this year’s

supposed to be double but you can never ever tell and it’s probably just as well

take the toboggan to the nearest valley and night time comes just way too soon

and

you drag the thing home under a half lit moon so i think we should go to bed

early

and light a candle where we lay stay as warm as we can stay fill my nose up with

the smell before you know the days will be getting long but as we hunker down a

spell and the fire’s burning well i like the way that we keep warm in the

covers.

Het is de eerste sneeuw van het jaar, denk dat het een keer per jaar gebeurt oh glorie en honden

in de

buurt wordt gek en zelfs alle oude die meestal lui zijn i

vraag me af of het voor altijd zal blijven ik vraag me af of het hier 's ochtends zal zijn als ik wakker word

om de dag te ontmoeten zal de verse witte sneeuw nog steeds om me heen liggen ik weet dat door

februari mijn gedachten over sneeuw zullen anders zijn maar dit is nu en dan is dan

dus

zet de fietsen weg en maak de looppaden vrij met een geleende schop en ik hoorde

dit jaar zou moeilijk worden als je dacht dat vorig jaar slecht was dit jaar

verondersteld dubbel te zijn, maar je weet het nooit en het is waarschijnlijk net zo goed

neem de rodelbaan naar de dichtstbijzijnde vallei en de nacht komt gewoon veel te vroeg

en

je sleept het ding naar huis onder een halfverlichte maan, dus ik denk dat we naar bed moeten gaan

vroeg

en steek een kaars aan waar we liggen blijf zo warm als we kunnen blijven vul mijn neus met

de geur voordat je het weet worden de dagen lang, maar terwijl we ons neerbuigen

betovering en het vuur brandt goed, ik hou van de manier waarop we warm blijven in de

dekt.
