I used to play basketball, that was me every night

I wanted to play college to, yo I’d reach for the sky

Until 18 I caught some disease in my eye, yeah

I had to stop playing, what should I do?

When ball was the only thing I wanted to do

Listen, that forced me to focus on music

Pez sat me down like «bro we can do this»

After hearing that I didn’t need more really

Going half blind made me see more clearly

Yo I’ve learnt to take the good with the bad

I’m half blind yeah but now have a look where I’m at

When something seems to turn negative in life

You can always go and turn it into anything you like

So if it happens just remember every time

Yo a tragedy can always be a blessing in disguise

When I was young I was attracted to the darkside

I wanted everyone to see me as the hard guy

Walking around with my mates trying to start fights

Hoping they wouldn’t want to cause I can’t fight

Thinking back now that shit could of ended crazy

I’m just glad that situation never faced me

Back then I was thinking you could never change me

What a dickhead, that’s not how my parents raised me

See I wasn’t facing the facts,

Acting crazy, wishing I could take it all back but

It took one of my mates to get stabbed just to realize

This shit wasn’t a game, it was wack

That’s how I wrote so fake so easily

Cause apart of those dudes I could see in me

So if somebody is wanting to fight just swallow your pride and leave it be

And that’s real

I nearly died in an accident, yeah, and so I wrote this story

It’s funny though how the worst thing to happen,

Probably was the best thing for me

Falling and flying shouldn’t take this long

But thanks to the crash yo I made this song

So now I ain’t afraid to see the day that I die

Because with this I’ll be staying alive (I'll be staying alive)

Yeah, I believe in believing the sky’s the limit

Have a look and you’ll see me up there flying in it

It’s a nice view, sometimes you might lose,

But understand when you fall you can fly too

Don’t let anybody tell you what you can’t do

And understand you could have anything you want,

Ik speelde basketbal, dat was ik elke avond

Ik wilde college spelen, zodat ik naar de hemel zou reiken

Tot mijn 18e kreeg ik een ziekte in mijn oog, yeah

Ik moest stoppen met spelen, wat moet ik doen?

Toen bal het enige was wat ik wilde doen

Luister, dat dwong me om me op muziek te concentreren

Pez zette me neer zoals "bro, we kunnen dit"

Nadat ik dat had gehoord, had ik niet meer nodig

Door halfblind te worden, zag ik duidelijker

Yo ik heb geleerd om het goede met het slechte te nemen

Ik ben half blind ja, maar kijk nu eens waar ik sta

Wanneer iets in het leven negatief lijkt te worden

Je kunt er altijd alles van maken wat je maar wilt

Dus als het gebeurt, onthoud dan elke keer weer

Een tragedie kan altijd een vermomde zegen zijn

Als je er alleen voor staat, is er niemand voor je

Als je helemaal naar huis bent, is er een wonder in een kostuum

Toen ik jong was, voelde ik me aangetrokken tot de duistere kant

Ik wilde dat iedereen me zou zien als de harde kerel

Rondlopen met mijn vrienden die proberen te vechten

In de hoop dat ze niet willen omdat ik niet kan vechten

Als ik nu terugdenk aan die shit, had het gek kunnen eindigen

Ik ben gewoon blij dat die situatie me nooit heeft geconfronteerd

Destijds dacht ik dat je me nooit zou kunnen veranderen

Wat een eikel, zo hebben mijn ouders me niet opgevoed

Kijk, ik stond niet voor de feiten,

Gek doen, wensend dat ik het allemaal terug kon nemen, maar

Er was een van mijn vrienden voor nodig om neergestoken te worden om het te beseffen

Deze shit was geen spel, het was wack

Dat is hoe ik zo nep zo gemakkelijk schreef

Want afgezien van die kerels die ik in mij kon zien

Dus als iemand wil vechten, slik dan gewoon je trots in en laat het met rust

En dat is echt

Als je er alleen voor staat, is er niemand voor je

Als je helemaal naar huis bent, is er een wonder in een kostuum

Ik stierf bijna door een ongeluk, ja, en dus schreef ik dit verhaal

Het is echter grappig hoe het ergste kan gebeuren,

Was waarschijnlijk het beste voor mij

Vallen en vliegen zou niet zo lang moeten duren

Maar dankzij de crash heb ik dit nummer gemaakt

Dus nu ben ik niet bang om de dag te zien dat ik sterf

Want hiermee blijf ik in leven (ik blijf in leven)

Ja, ik geloof in het geloof dat the sky the limit is

Kijk eens en je ziet me daarboven vliegen

Het is een mooi uitzicht, soms verlies je,

Maar begrijp dat als je valt, je ook kunt vliegen

Laat niemand je vertellen wat je niet kunt doen

Laat ze niet in je hoofd binnenkomen, want jij bent er niet

En begrijp dat je alles kunt hebben wat je wilt,

Als je de moeite doet om te onthouden wat je hebt?
