Ready Me Ready - Pato Banton

I’m gonna tell you 'bout a thing that happen long time gone

While Pato Banton was down in London

It’s been a secret now for far too long

So right about now me want tell everyone

When I go to London I get accommodation

From my aunt Patsy who lives in Brixton

She’s young free and single and a trouble to a man

If she ever gets married I’m sorry for the husband

Brixton, Stockwell, Vauxall, Pimlico

I was on my way to see a lovely woman

Victoria, Green Park, Oxford Circus, Warren St

Then the next stop was Houston

Two stops left from my destination

The King Cross (St. Panoras) then Highbury/Islington

To reach Pat’s house, it never take long

Me just ask a couple of people for the direction

Me just run up the stairs and press the intercom

A voice said: «Who's that?»

Me say: «Pato Banton.»

When she opened the door my heart went bang!

This was beauty beyond all imagination

Inside I went without no hesitation

'cause to stay all night was my intention

The tele' signed off at half past one

Then me and Pat had a short conversation

Then to the bedroom me get me invitation

So now me a go tell you what went on

The gal took off her wig and put it on a wall

De andere avond waren we in het huis Koon-Kan . aan het spelen

Toen ik zes wedstrijden op rij won, riep mijn tante: «Oh!

Toen «breng brengen» ging de telefoon

Ik gooide de kaarten weg en naar de telefoon die ik rende

want ik verwachtte een telefoontje van een lieve vrouw

Haar naam was Pat, ze woonde in het noorden van Islington

Het was liefde, lust of verliefdheid

"Hallo is Pato daar?"

was hij de eerste vraag?

Koel als komkommer antwoordde ik: «Je spreekt tegen de man.»

"Kun je vanavond langskomen?"

was haar tweede vraag

Ik zei: "Lieveling, je wens is mijn bevel."

Ze gaf me haar adres en zei: "Tot ziens."

Ik hing gewoon de telefoon op en zei: "Tante me weg."

De voordeur uit in één richting

Ik liep in de richting van metrostation Brixton

Met de Victoria Line zou ik mijn bestemming bereiken

want het is maar tien haltes van Brixton naar Islington

Brixton, Stockwell, Opel, Pimlico

Ik was op weg naar een mooie vrouw

Victoria, Green Park, Oxford Circus, Warren St

Toen was de volgende stop Houston

Nog twee haltes vanaf mijn bestemming

The King Cross (St. Panoras) en vervolgens Highbury/Islington

Om het huis van Pat te bereiken, duurt het nooit lang

Ik vraag gewoon een paar mensen om de richting

Ik ren gewoon de trap op en druk op de intercom

Een stem zei: «Wie is dat?»

Ik zeg: "Pato Banton."

Op dat moment ontspande ze haar tanden en stopte ze in een glas

Ik kon zien dat ze last had van eczeem

want overal is ze roekeloos

Ze kwam naar me toe en begon te fluisteren:

"Vanavond Pato Banton ben jij mijn minnaar."

Ik pak me jas op en gooi me pet op

Uit de voordeur begin ik te galopperen

Zelfs als de meid roept: "Pato, kom terug!"

Weg me weg en ik nar kom terug
