Not everyone notices

As things drift slowly in and out of focus.

Being in the theatre is more important than knowing

what is going on in the movie.

The sound in the theatre is very loud.

It builds up beacause it can’t get out of the theatre.

The actors talk.

We can still hear what they said a minute ago.

This happens in any closed room — sound never leaves it.

If someone goes out to get some soda or popcorn.

Some conversations escape as they leave and enter the lobby.

When the movie’s over.

And everyone leaves the theatre.

The accumulated sound leaves with them

And spreads out across the parking lot

To become forever part of the landscape

The film is a gift to the surrounding community.

Terwijl dingen langzaam in en uit focus drijven.

In het theater zijn is belangrijker dan weten

wat er in de film gebeurt.

Het geluid in de bioscoop is erg luid.

Het bouwt op omdat het het theater niet uit kan.

De acteurs praten.

We kunnen nog steeds horen wat ze een minuut geleden zeiden.

Dit gebeurt in elke gesloten ruimte. Het geluid komt er nooit uit.

Als iemand naar buiten gaat om wat frisdrank of popcorn te halen.

Sommige gesprekken ontsnappen als ze weggaan en de lobby binnenkomen.

Als de film afgelopen is.

En iedereen verlaat het theater.

Het opgehoopte geluid gaat met hen mee

En verspreidt zich over de parkeerplaats

Om voor altijd deel uit te maken van het landschap

De film is een geschenk aan de omliggende gemeenschap.
