The joker left the ballroom queen

And now he’s tryin' to fix his broken dreams

In foreign starry nights

But the ballroom queen stays restless

She stumbles on the floor

The mirror ball has stopped to turn

What’s humming through the hall?

The noise of more than a decade

Oh I still can feel it’s weight

And it’s getting late tonight

I chase the ghost who stole my sleep

These days we used to ride the wave

That took us and left us kind of swaying

But I stranded on an island and it feels like I’m fraying

This brings back a friend at a gas station saying:

Welcome to Paradise

We’ve got Chocolate and Soda

And in artificial light, the prom of the loners

Sparks spray through the sky

And a princess is waiting

My very paradise

And my hobo friend is saying:

Could this be the last sunset in earth?!

The Joker is still out of sight

He’s chasin down the coastline roads

Tryin' to catch what he once threw away

Back in his wasteful days

The velvet haze slowly descends

But now I fear to see your face again

I’m riding alone again

And the pulse of time, continuously beating

While a voice inside my TV is quietly repating:

En het wordt laat vanavond

Ik achtervolg de geest die mijn slaap heeft gestolen

Je weet dat we ooit wild waren

Tegenwoordig reden we op de golf

Dat kostte ons en liet ons een beetje zwaaien

Maar ik strandde op een eiland en het voelt alsof ik aan het rafelen ben

Dit brengt een vriend terug bij een tankstation die zegt:

Welkom in het paradijs

We hebben chocolade en frisdrank

En in kunstlicht, het bal van de eenlingen

Vonken spatten door de lucht

En er wacht een prinses

Mijn zeer paradijs

En mijn hobo-vriend zegt:

Zou dit de laatste zonsondergang op aarde kunnen zijn?!

De Joker is nog steeds uit het zicht

Hij jaagt langs de kustwegen

Proberen te vangen wat hij ooit heeft weggegooid

Terug in zijn verkwistende dagen

De fluwelen waas daalt langzaam

Maar nu ben ik bang om je gezicht weer te zien

Oh mijn beste vriend

Ik rij weer alleen

En de pols van de tijd, voortdurend kloppend

Terwijl een stem in mijn tv stilletjes herhaalt:
