Preacher keeps talking about looting

Had a lot to say about that but not about police shootings

Why is the U.S. flag in the foyer

Who told us we should be single issue voters for the POTUS need to open our eyes

Why is the Christian position Republican

Religious liberty prioritized

Whatever happened to waving your rights

Sacrifice and all that laying down lives

They told us to follow the rules

That’s how we fell for the ruse

But then I start catching the cues

When we sleep they preach another guy

I knew we had differences

I never assumed that the church was flawless

But this one was different

They recorded the lynching

All of us saw it

I thought the church would rise

Confronting racism this time

To rewrite the history lines

That Christians was getting it right this time

But what we do

Run to our tribe

Tell them to evangelize

Tell them to come and pray

While police out here hunting they prey

And people out losing lives

I finally see it that nationalism is posing as if it is one in the same

They calling it Christian but really it’s different

A different religion that’s using the name

It’s really American

This is the heritage seminaries are not seeming to train

These future ambassadors sending our pastors under prepared and they’re being

ordained

Religieuze vrijheid prioriteit

Opoffering en al dat leven afleggen

Ze zeiden dat we de regels moesten volgen

Ik heb nooit aangenomen dat de kerk onberispelijk was

Maar deze was anders

Ze hebben de lynchpartij opgenomen

We hebben het allemaal gezien

Ik dacht dat de kerk zou opstaan

Deze keer de confrontatie met racisme

De geschiedenisregels herschrijven

Dat christenen het deze keer goed begrepen

Maar wat we doen?

Ren naar onze stam

Zeg dat ze moeten evangeliseren

Zeg dat ze moeten komen bidden

Terwijl de politie hier jaagt, jagen ze

En mensen die levens verliezen

Ik zie eindelijk in dat nationalisme zich voordoet alsof het hetzelfde is

Ze noemen het christelijk, maar het is echt anders

Een andere religie die de naam gebruikt

Het is echt Amerikaans

Dit zijn de erfgoedseminaries die niet lijken te trainen

Deze toekomstige ambassadeurs sturen onze predikanten onvoldoende voorbereid en ze worden...
