I can remember back when we were small

We would start counting the days 'till it all

Would begin once again, the most magic of times

That started us dreaming of wonders we’d find

The down from the attic our father would bring

Boxes of ornaments, tinsel and things

Like old family treasures, a wreath for the door

It was almost like we’d never seen them before

With each passing day, the excitement would rise

When no one was looking, my brother and I

Would peek at the presents wrapped so prettily

And carefully put them back under the tree

When Christmas Eve came, we could finally say

That morning would only be one sleep away

We were so excited by what lay ahead

That Timmy and I would go straight off to bed

Then we’d get up early and run down the hall

To wake up our parents, and then we would all

Ik kan me herinneren dat we nog klein waren

We zouden beginnen met het aftellen van de dagen tot het allemaal

Zou opnieuw beginnen, de meest magische tijd ooit

Dat deed ons dromen van wonderen die we zouden vinden

Het dons van de zolder dat onze vader zou brengen

Dozen met ornamenten, klatergoud en zo

Als oude familieschatten, een krans voor de deur

Het was bijna alsof we ze nog nooit eerder hadden gezien

We zetten de hulst en de maretak op

Met elke dag die voorbijgaat, zou de opwinding toenemen

Toen niemand keek, mijn broer en ik

Zou naar de zo mooi ingepakte cadeautjes kijken

En leg ze voorzichtig terug onder de boom

Toen kerstavond kwam, konden we eindelijk zeggen:

Die ochtend zou maar één slaapje verwijderd zijn

We waren zo opgewonden door wat ons te wachten stond

Dat Timmy en ik meteen naar bed zouden gaan

Dan stonden we vroeg op en renden we door de gang

Om onze ouders wakker te maken, en dan zouden we allemaal

Nog in onze pyjama, deel de cadeautjes uit

Terwijl er overal met omhulsels en linten werd gegooid
