Reading in the Dark - Heathers

Its no walk in the park with no light

I’m impatient and keen and I’m willing to fight

I need help to carry on

And get through this mess that I’m working on

Where do I start, do I finish?

Is it easy, is it hard, is it right, is it wrong?

How many questions am I allowed to ask

Before I fall down and I’m carried along

I am reading in the dark of this lighted room

Thinking of my options that will not begin to bloom

It’s getting more complicated

By the minute

When you’re looking outside at that tall grey brick wall

And a bird catches gaze, falls and stumbles, then squalls

You can’t help but think of those unfortunate lies

That can bury themselves but will suddenly arise

How many crows must you count and then stall

Must you think about carefully then lose and so ball?

When lies do arise can you hide them with truth

Or do they drift, from me to you?

Het is geen wandeling in het park zonder licht

Ik ben ongeduldig en enthousiast en ik ben bereid om te vechten

Ik heb hulp nodig om door te gaan

En kom door deze puinhoop waar ik aan werk

Waar begin ik, eindig ik?

Is het gemakkelijk, is het moeilijk, is het goed, is het fout?

Hoeveel vragen mag ik stellen?

Voordat ik val en ik word meegesleurd

Ik lees in het donker van deze verlichte kamer

Denkend aan mijn opties die niet zullen beginnen te bloeien

Het wordt ingewikkelder

Per minuut

Als je naar buiten kijkt naar die hoge grijze bakstenen muur

En een vogel vangt de blik, valt en struikelt, en waait dan

Je kunt het niet helpen, maar denk aan die ongelukkige leugens

Die kunnen zichzelf begraven maar zullen plotseling ontstaan

Hoeveel kraaien moet je tellen en dan stallen

Moet je goed nadenken over dan verliezen en zo bal?

Als er leugens opduiken, kun je ze dan met de waarheid verbergen?

Of drijven ze van mij naar jou?
