Sometimes a deep settled peace comes upon me

We’re living in such a mean world

A world where there’s no rest

A world where there’s a lot of turmoil, strife, hatred, bigotry

A lot of sickness

Where young people are strung out on drugs

There’s murder, there’s hate, there’s debate, there’s deceit

We’re living in a mean world with the threat of nuclear war hanging over our

heads

But Jesus has plainly told us in his word, let not be your heart be troubled

He’ll give you peace when cannot find your way

He’ll give you peace in the midnight hour

Soms komt er een diepe, vaste vrede over me

Zelfs in verdriet en wanhoop

Vrede

We leven in zo'n gemene wereld

Een wereld waar geen rust is

Een wereld waar veel onrust, strijd, haat, onverdraagzaamheid is

Veel ziekte

Waar jonge mensen aan de drugs worden gehangen

Er is moord, er is haat, er is debat, er is bedrog

We leven in een gemene wereld met de dreiging van een kernoorlog die boven ons hangt

Maar Jezus heeft ons duidelijk in zijn woord gezegd: laat uw hart niet verontrust worden

Laat het niet bang zijn voor mijn vrede die ik aan jou ga geven

Niet zoals de wereld geeft, zal ik aan jou geven

Hij zal je vrede geven als je je weg niet kunt vinden

Hij zal je vrede geven in het middernachtelijk uur

Een diepe vaste vrede van binnen, ja dat zal hij

Hij zal de tranen uit je ogen vegen, ja dat zal hij
