Where confetti fell

But now the faded posters say

Ferris wheel standing still

Empty carousel

My bright balloon has flown away

Piped so happily

As merry the merry-go-round

Went round and round

Cracker jacks and kewpie dolls

Laughing clowns were we

How hollow the laughter can sound

And sound, and sound, love

Silly clown, go on home

It’s over, can’t you tell?

He found another place to play

Piped so happily

All these foolish yesterdays

Laughing now at me

Eens liepen we zo met sterrenhemel

Waar confetti viel

Maar nu zeggen de vervaagde posters:

"Vandaag is de kermis gesloten"

Reuzenrad staat stil

Lege carrousel

Mijn heldere ballon is weggevlogen

De kermis is vandaag gesloten

Calliope van gisteren

Zo gelukkig doorgesluisd

Als vrolijk de draaimolen

Ging rond en rond

Crackerjacks en kewpie-poppen

Lachende clowns waren wij

Hoe hol kan het lachen klinken

En geluid, en geluid, liefde

Domme clown, ga naar huis

Het is voorbij, kun je het niet zien?

Hij heeft een andere plek gevonden om te spelen
