I jumped up

(just listen to the sleigh-bell song)

And I felt tipsy

(the snow is falling all around)

I can’t stand up

(Santa Claus is coming to town)

So hold on to me this Christmas

But soon the music will fade, the last of the wine will be poured

And the dancing will cease.

These old friends will make their way home to sleep

a restless sleep as St. Nick makes his rounds.

And by tomorrow afternoon,

as the last of the wraping paper is tossed into the fire, this Christmas will

be over.

Why must it all go by so fast?

Santa Claus, this Christmas,

don’t let these friends go home

Don’t let the revelry end, and don’t leave me here, alone

(luister maar naar het sleebellied)

En ik voelde me aangeschoten

(de sneeuw valt overal)

Ik kan niet opstaan

(Kerstman komt naar de stad)

Dus houd me vast deze kerst

Maar al snel zal de muziek wegsterven, de laatste wijn zal worden ingeschonken

En het dansen zal ophouden.

Deze oude vrienden gaan naar huis om te slapen

een rusteloze slaap terwijl St. Nick zijn rondes maakt.

En morgenmiddag,

als het laatste inpakpapier in het vuur wordt gegooid, zal deze kerst

voorbij zijn.

Waarom moet het allemaal zo snel voorbij gaan?

Sinterklaas, deze kerst,

laat deze vrienden niet naar huis gaan
