Joshua Giraffe - Raffi

Joshua Giraffe was born in a zoo

He lived there, too, for two years

And a half he hasn’t had a bath

My mommy doesn’t lick me

Even when I’m sticky

From, candy floss, candy apples, popcorn

Soft drinks, jelly beans and gumdrops

And there must be something better

Than living in this cage

But I’m really not too sure

Because I’m rather short of age

Joshua Giraffe was feeling kind of sad

Things were going bad

How little of life he had

Wasting away with no room to play

Trapped in a zoo with buffalo poo

So he went next door to the elephant

And asked him what to do

The elephant was very old and gray

And he had a huge balloon bottom

And he said, «Never fear Joshua!

For a vision will appear!»

That night a dream came to Joshua and

Joshua saw animals like crazy monkeys…

And a whole pile of Hippypotostropasuses…

And flitty moths…

Frogs size twelve…

And sleazy lizards…

And a tribe of nasty saviars!

But Joshua wasn’t afraid

Because he sang himself this song

Even in his dream he knew

He’d never get away

Not even for a day, then!

A peanut hit him on the nose

Joshua Giraffe was back in the zoo

What could he do

Awakened from his dream

He’d never be the same

Because of things he’d seen

He’d seen

Alligators, crocodiles, tree sloths (tree sloths)

Anacondas, cobras and

Large winged moths

Orangutans, gorillas, baboons eating grapes

Gibbons, rude mandrills, and just plain apes

But Joshua was lucky

He had some special friends

And that day they went to the zoo

But he was up tight so they waited till the night

He soared into the sky

With them wrapped around his neck

And they haven’t come back yet

Joshua Giraffe werd geboren in een dierentuin

Hij heeft daar ook twee jaar gewoond

En de helft heeft hij niet in bad gehad

Mijn mama likt me niet

Zelfs als ik plakkerig ben

Van, suikerspin, snoepappels, popcorn

Frisdranken, jelly beans en gumdrops

En er moet iets beters zijn

Dan leven in deze kooi

Maar ik ben er echt niet zo zeker van

Omdat ik nogal klein van leeftijd ben

Joshua Giraffe voelde zich een beetje verdrietig

Dingen gingen slecht

Hoe weinig van het leven hij had

Wegkwijnen zonder ruimte om te spelen

Opgesloten in een dierentuin met buffelpoep

Dus ging hij naast de olifant

En vroeg hem wat hij moest doen

Ik verkwist zonder ruimte om te spelen

Ik zit vast in een dierentuin, met buffelpoep

De olifant was erg oud en grijs

En hij had een enorme ballonbodem

En hij zei: «Vrees nooit Jozua!

Want een visioen zal verschijnen!»

Die nacht kwam er een droom tot Jozua en

Joshua zag dieren als gekke apen...

En een hele stapel Hippypotostropauses...

En kleine motten...

Kikkers maat twaalf…

En slonzige hagedissen...

En een stam van gemene verlossers!

Maar Joshua was niet bang

Omdat hij dit nummer voor zichzelf zong

Er kan niets fout gaan

Ik ben in Congo

Joshua Giraffe was terug in de dierentuin

Wat zou hij kunnen doen?

Ontwaakt uit zijn droom

Hij zou nooit meer hetzelfde zijn

Vanwege dingen die hij had gezien

Hij had gezien

Alligators, krokodillen, boomluiaards (boomluiaards)

Anaconda's, cobra's en

Grote gevleugelde motten

Orang-oetans, gorilla's, bavianen die druiven eten

Gibbons, onbeschofte mandrillen en gewoon apen

Maar Joshua had geluk

Hij had een paar speciale vrienden

En die dag gingen ze naar de dierentuin

Maar hij was gespannen, dus ze wachtten tot de nacht

En ze hakten zijn kooi in tweeën

Hij ontdekte dat hij kon vliegen en

Hij steeg de lucht in

Met ze om zijn nek gewikkeld

En ze zijn nog niet terug

Dus als je ziet dat ze een net krijgen...

Je vindt toevallig

Een baviaan koestert zich op het balkon

Of een leeuw die een citroen likt in de lobby

Of een python in de voorraadkast

Een gnoe in het W.C.,

Met een schildpad in je badkuip

Wees niet bang, zeg gewoon dat je een vriend bent
