Death Requiem - Mortification

As they gather at the funeral wake

To speak of good times gone by

The deceased soul learns some more

Revealed reality, the flames of unrest

«Maybe his in his next life»

Sobs ma as the tears roll

Unknowing the eternal destination

As He awaits the judgement throne

«He's at rest now»

The hired celebrant proclaims

He tickles all the ears

While sin is exposed by the Heavenly Host

Silence falls over the crowd

As the casket lowers into the ground

While kneeling in the Heavenlies

Confessing the forsaken Lord of his life

«How can God allow this»

Cries sister in lament

But God had other plans

And revealed what this has meant

You gather what you cast into this straying earth life

While man has his will, the Son paid the price

You turn the flesh back into dust

Saying return to dust you sons of Adam

Lord teach us so to number our days

That we may apply our hearts to wisdom

In order that we avoid the aftermath of separation

Returning to the original purpose of creation

So back on earth men make their claims playing

«Where do they go» games

While up in Heaven the creator cries as people listen

To each other’s lies

Terwijl ze samenkomen bij de begrafeniswake

Om te spreken over goede tijden die voorbij zijn

De overleden ziel leert wat meer

Geopenbaarde realiteit, de vlammen van onrust

"Misschien de zijne in zijn volgende leven"

Snik ma als de tranen rollen

De eeuwige bestemming niet kennen

Terwijl Hij wacht op de oordeelstroon

"Hij heeft nu rust"

De ingehuurde celebrant verkondigt:

Hij kietelt alle oren

Terwijl de zonde wordt blootgelegd door de Hemelse Hostie

Stilte valt over de menigte

Terwijl de kist in de grond zakt

Terwijl je knielt in de hemelse gewesten

De verlaten Heer van zijn leven belijden

«Hoe kan God dit toestaan»

Huilt zus in klaagzang

Maar God had andere plannen

En onthulde wat dit heeft betekend

Je verzamelt wat je in dit verdwaalde aardse leven werpt

Terwijl de mens zijn wil heeft, betaalde de Zoon de prijs

Je verandert het vlees weer in stof

Zeggen terug tot stof jullie zonen van Adam

Heer leer ons om onze dagen zo te tellen

Dat we ons hart op wijsheid mogen toepassen

Om de nasleep van scheiding te vermijden

Terugkeren naar het oorspronkelijke doel van de schepping

Dus terug op aarde maken mannen hun beweringen door te spelen

'Waar gaan ze heen'-games

Boven in de hemel huilt de maker terwijl mensen luisteren

Op elkaars leugens
