I went into a home one day to see some friends of mine

Of all the books and magazines not a Bible could I find

I asked them for the Bible when they brought it, what a shame

For the dust was covered over it not a fingerprint was plain

Ik ging op een dag een huis binnen om wat vrienden van mij te zien

Van alle boeken en tijdschriften kon ik geen bijbel vinden

Ik vroeg ze om de Bijbel toen ze die brachten, wat een schande

Want het stof was eroverheen bedekt, geen vingerafdruk was duidelijk

U kunt uw tijdschriften lezen, lezen over liefde en tragische dingen

Maar niet één vers van de Schrift, niet één vers weet je

Wanneer het de waarheid is en de inhoud ervan goed voor je is

Stof op de Bijbel zal je arme ziel verdoemen

Als je een vriend hebt die je graag op weg wilt helpen

Vertel hem gewoon dat het goede boek een sterveling laat zien hoe te bidden

Het beste advies om hem te geven dat zijn last licht zal maken

Is de Bijbel afstoffen, het verkeerde inruilen voor het goede
