There’s a black bird

In the cage of my ribs

I can hear his song

All night long

And when he sings

The air it shatters

Like a thousand shards of glass

And I will open my body

But I know he will not fly free

Sorrow, she comes a courtin'

With her pale hands held in mine

And i will lay there

By her side

We will walk

Through this garden

Of serpent trees

Filled with falling stars

There’s a bright bird

In the seat of my skull
