No matter what you did

If you screwed up you stepped forward

And we’re asked to risk our money and our youth

Before we mount that task

It seems reasonable to ask

If your info is conclusive

And when your reason’s all go bust

And you violate our trust

We know we’ve all been down that road before

No hint of shame upon your face

Contrition not a trace

No you’ll never hear «I'm sorry» any more

Better not admit defeat

Though you’re caught with your fingers in the jar

It will only show you’re weak

Atonement is passe and everything I’ve seen in life confers

Let some sucker take the flack

'Cause honesty is just a can of worms

Learn a little self-control

Quit complaining, get a job

And girls get married, but only if you’re straight

But if you help to lead the nation

Or your own corporation

You are governed by a different set of rules

Just deny and obfuscate

Deflect and fabricate

Het lijkt redelijk om te vragen

Als uw informatie overtuigend is

Of in ieder geval de waarheid

En als je reden helemaal kapot gaat

En je schendt ons vertrouwen

We weten dat we allemaal al eerder op die weg zijn geweest

Geen zweem van schaamte op je gezicht

Berouw geen spoor

Nee, je zult "Het spijt me" nooit meer horen

Het is de schuld van iemand anders, dat zie je niet

In de huidige sfeer

Het is absoluut duidelijk

Dat de bok kilometers verderop stopt

Als je liegt of als je bedriegt

Beter geen nederlaag toegeven

Hoewel je met je vingers in de pot zit

Het zal alleen laten zien dat je zwak bent

Als je berouwvol of zachtmoedig bent

En met die deugden kom je gewoon niet ver

Want in deze wereld vandaag

Verzoening is voorbij en alles wat ik in het leven heb gezien, verleent

Kruis je vingers draai je rug

Laat een of andere sukkel de gok wagen

Omdat eerlijkheid slechts een blik wormen is

Als je arm bent en op de ???

Leer een beetje zelfbeheersing

En begrijp dat jij de reden bent voor je lot

Kniel neer, jij luie sloddervos

Stop met klagen, zoek een baan

En meisjes trouwen, maar alleen als je hetero bent

Maar als je helpt om de natie te leiden

Of je eigen bedrijf

U valt onder een andere reeks regels

Gewoon ontkennen en verdoezelen

Afbuigen en fabriceren

Want verantwoordelijkheid is alleen voor dwazen
