Skyscrapers shone in their dark majesty

In this other-worldly land of ours

I’ve walked by the buildings, I’ve walked by the malls

I walked by the skyscrapers, lonely and dark

I stood in awe, so silently

Under th buzzing electric lights

Boats on the harbour, gulls on th pier

Ships and trucks and sailors in the bars

Wolkenkrabbers schitterden in hun donkere majesteit

In dit buitenaardse land van ons

Ik ben langs de gebouwen gelopen, ik heb langs de winkelcentra gelopen

Ik liep langs de wolkenkrabbers, eenzaam en donker
