My search for purpose

In your selfish actions and manipulation

Always proves useless

You will waste a lifetime of breath

On one empty cause after the next

You will never find relief

From the constant sharp sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach

When you look around a crowded room

And know everyone sees through you

So bend and contort to fit the shape

Of people and ideals that you imitate

This construct of «self» you’re holding together

One day soon is bound to shatter

Into broken shards that collect at your feet

This is what you are, this is all you’ll ever be

Mijn zoektocht naar de waarheid

Mijn zoektocht naar een doel

In je egoïstische acties en manipulatie

Blijkt altijd nutteloos

Je verspilt een leven lang adem

Op de ene lege zaak na de andere

Je zult nooit verlichting vinden

Van het constante scherpe zinkende gevoel in de put van je maag

Als je rondkijkt in een drukke kamer

En weet dat iedereen door je heen kijkt

Dus buig en draai om in de vorm te passen

Van mensen en idealen die je navolgt

Deze constructie van «zelf» die je bij elkaar houdt

Op een dag zal spoedig verbrijzelen

In gebroken scherven die zich aan je voeten verzamelen

Dit is wat je bent, dit is alles wat je ooit zult zijn
