You read about ol' Samson you read about his birth

Well, Samson was the strongest man that ever walked on earth

Now, the Bible tells us down in ancient times

That he killed ten thousand of those Philistines

You see one day ol' Samson was walkin' alone

And a-looked on the ground and spied an old jawbone

And then he picked up that jawbone and swung it ‘round his head

When that jawbone came down now ten thousand were dead

If I had my way

I would tear this building down

Delilah was a woman both fine and fair

She was so good lookin' with her coal black hair

That she drove poor Samson right out of his mind

When he saw that woman of the Philistines

And now that wicked Delilah she talked so fair

That poor Samson revealed, «If I shaved my head

If I shave my head just as clean as your hand

My strength will be just like a natural man»

If I had my way

I would tear this building down

So, Samson shaved his head just as clean as your hand

And his strength became just like a natural man

And then they took ol' Samson they took him by surprise

And they picked up a stick and then they punched out his eyes

And then they took ol' Samson to the judgment hall

And then they chained ol' Samson to that stone cold wall

And then they left him there ‘til his hair grew brown

And then the good Lord gave him strength to tear that building down

Welnu, Simson was de sterkste man die ooit op aarde heeft gelopen

Nu, de Bijbel vertelt ons in de oudheid:

Dat hij tienduizend van die Filistijnen heeft vermoord

Zie je, op een dag liep de oude Simson alleen

En keek naar de grond en zag een oud kaakbeen

En toen pakte hij dat kaakbeen op en zwaaide het 'rond zijn hoofd'

Toen dat kaakbeen naar beneden kwam, waren er nu tienduizend dood

Als ik mijn zin had

Ik zou dit gebouw afbreken

Delilah was een vrouw, zowel fijn als eerlijk

Ze zag er zo goed uit met haar koolzwarte haar

Dat ze de arme Simson uit zijn hoofd heeft gedreven

Toen hij die vrouw van de Filistijnen zag...

En nu die slechte Delilah ze zo eerlijk sprak

Die arme Simson onthulde: "Als ik mijn hoofd zou scheren"

Als ik mijn hoofd net zo schoon scheer als jouw hand?

Mijn kracht zal zijn als een natuurlijke man»

Dus Simson schoor zijn hoofd net zo schoon als je hand

En zijn kracht werd net als een natuurlijke man

En toen namen ze de oude Simson mee, ze namen hem als verrassing mee

En ze pakten een stok en staken zijn ogen eruit

En toen namen ze de oude Simson mee naar de rechtszaal

En toen ketenden ze de oude Simson aan die steenkoude muur

En toen lieten ze hem daar tot zijn haar bruin werd

En toen gaf de goede Heer hem de kracht om dat gebouw af te breken
