I think of art in weird terms

I really believe that art and expression should be limitless

And you should be able to explore themes that are grotesque or dark

And engage with those thoughts and just put them down and look at them like

they are

'Cause at the day of the day you aren’t your thoughts or your feelings

Your actions are the most important things about you

And I think CANADA for me was a good sign of that

That song came out of a dark place and I put it out into the world and I love it

But at the same time that’s not me, I think through that I figured out a lot

about my art

And a lot about these fucked up thoughts that I can have and that we all have

I think it’s important to engage with those and at least try and sort 'em out,

try and do something better

I think on a song like TTYL that’s me at my rawest

I wrote that song shortly after my ex got engaged and it finally felt

It finally felt like I was able to let go of a situation that was super dark

and cloudy and fucked up

In a very beautiful way

And that’s what this project’s about, it’s like

Although you have these dark thoughts or feelings or bad days

As long as you don’t encompass that in your being, that’s not you

This is MISOGYNY

Ik denk aan kunst in vreemde termen

Ik geloof echt dat kunst en expressie grenzeloos moeten zijn

En je zou in staat moeten zijn om thema's te verkennen die grotesk of donker zijn

En ga met die gedachten om, leg ze neer en bekijk ze als

zij zijn

Want op de dag van de dag ben je niet je gedachten of je gevoelens

Je acties zijn de belangrijkste dingen over jou

En ik denk dat CANADA daar voor mij een goed teken van was

Dat nummer kwam uit een donkere plaats en ik heb het de wereld ingestuurd en ik vind het geweldig

Maar tegelijkertijd ben ik dat niet, ik denk erover na dat ik veel heb bedacht

over mijn kunst

En veel over deze klote gedachten die ik kan hebben en die we allemaal hebben

Ik denk dat het belangrijk is om hiermee om te gaan en in ieder geval te proberen ze op te lossen,

probeer iets beters te doen

Ik denk bij een nummer als TTYL dat ik op mijn rauwst ben

Ik schreef dat nummer kort nadat mijn ex verloofd was en het voelde eindelijk

Het voelde eindelijk alsof ik een situatie kon loslaten die superdonker was

en bewolkt en verknald

Op een heel mooie manier

En dat is waar dit project over gaat, het is alsof

Ook al heb je deze donkere gedachten of gevoelens of slechte dagen

Zolang je dat niet in je wezen omvat, ben jij dat niet
