Therapy - Years Later

It’s a paradox that I can’t seem to shake

When I look at my father, all I see is a fake

Just another codependent with a void to replace

Keepin' all your secrets right in front of my face

You won’t take the blame at all

Too afraid to change at all

I need therapy to get me back on my feet

Analyzing my dreams, but there’s nothing to see

I’m sleepin' inconsistently these days

Knowing somewhere you’re out there still stuck in your ways

Just let it breathe and go back to where we started

This never-ending cycle that I didn’t have to be a part of

Tear down these walls

Of drug addiction, alcohol

It affects me, it affects us all

Stay up all night, expect the call

I need therapy to get me back on my feet

Analyzing my dreams, but there’s nothin' to see

I’m sleepin' inconsistently these days

Knowing somewhere you’re out there still stuck

You’re stuck in your ways

And somewhere you’re out there

And if I changed my name

Would this all stay the same?

It could be a means to an end

Like a race in my mind

Second-guess all the time

I done, just forgive and forget
