Stung by his visions the lordling arises,

eager to break from the stiffness of dreams.

Stumbling round till his hand is united

(with) the sword of his father, the comfort it brings him.

How long shall you mourn him

there, in the dark?

Into the barrows, weeping and grief-struck,

spouting off curses and oaths to the gods.

Silenced before him in ethereal wonder,

the spectral father calls out to the son.

Gestoken door zijn visioenen staat de heer op,

gretig om te breken met de stijfheid van dromen.

Rond strompelen tot zijn hand verenigd is

(met) het zwaard van zijn vader, de troost die het hem brengt.

Hoe lang zul je om hem rouwen

daar, in het donker?

In de grafheuvels, huilend en verdrietig,

spuiten van vloeken en eden aan de goden.

Stil voor hem in etherische verwondering,

roept de spookachtige vader naar de zoon.
