(I spy with my little eye)

On candy stripe legs the spiderman comes

Softly through the shadow of the evening sun

Stealing past the windows of the blissfully dead

Looking for the victim shivering in bed

Searching out fear in the gathering gloom and suddenly!

A movement in the corner of the room!

And there is nothing I can do

When I realize with fright

That the spiderman is having me for dinner tonight!

Quietly he laughs, shaking his head

Creeps closer now

Closer to the foot of the bed

And softer than shadow

And quicker than flies

His arms are all around me and his tongue in my eyes

"Be still be calm be quiet now my precious boy

Don't struggle like that or I will only love you more

For it's much too late to get away or turn on the light

The spiderman is having you for dinner tonight"

And I feel like I'm being eaten

By a thousand million shivering furry holes

And I know that in the morning

I will wake up in the shivering cold

And the spiderman is always hungry...

(Come into my parlour)

(Said the spider to the fly)

(I have a little something here)

(Ik bespioneer met mijn kleine oog)

(Iets dat begint met S)

Op candy stripe pootjes komt de spiderman

Zachtjes door de schaduw van de avondzon

Langs de ramen van de gelukzalige doden sluipen

Op zoek naar het slachtoffer dat bibberend in bed ligt

Angst zoeken in de opkomende duisternis en plotseling!

Een beweging in de hoek van de kamer!

En er is niets dat ik kan doen

Als ik me met schrik realiseer

Dat de spiderman me vanavond uit eten heeft!

Zachtjes lacht hij, hoofdschuddend

Kruipt nu dichterbij

Dichter bij het voeteneinde van het bed

En zachter dan schaduw

En sneller dan vliegen

Zijn armen zijn om me heen en zijn tong in mijn ogen

"Wees stil, wees kalm, wees nu stil mijn dierbare jongen

Strijd niet zo, of ik zal alleen maar meer van je houden

Want het is veel te laat om weg te gaan of het licht aan te doen

De spiderman nodigt je vanavond uit voor het avondeten"

En ik heb het gevoel dat ik opgegeten word

Door een miljard bibberende harige gaten

En dat weet ik in de ochtend

Ik zal wakker worden in de rillende kou

En de spiderman heeft altijd honger...
