Counting hours turned to days I can’t reclaim

Praying for time to remain

All these demands on my attention,

all these appeals to my energy,

I have nothing to give.

Through the night I hear whispers calling my name.

Oh, the comfort of safety is my shame.

I am afraid I have nothing to offer,

all of my strength is exhausted by the thought of it.

Why is complacency the convention?

I have conceded to apathy,

paralyzed by inertia.

Fear of failure breeds dissension

between the ache that’s inside of me

and the weight of depravity.

Bidden om tijd om te blijven

Al deze eisen op mijn aandacht,

dit alles doet een beroep op mijn energie,

Ik heb niets te geven.

De hele nacht hoor ik gefluister dat mijn naam roept.

Oh, het comfort van veiligheid is mijn schande.

Ik ben bang dat ik niets te bieden heb,

al mijn kracht is uitgeput door de gedachte eraan.

Rouw om de tijd weggegooid

Waarom is zelfgenoegzaamheid de conventie?

Ik heb toegegeven aan apathie,

verlamd door traagheid.

Angst om te falen leidt tot onenigheid

tussen de pijn die in mij zit

en het gewicht van verdorvenheid.
