It’s not me or the fool on the hill.

Or the kids on the corner with their dope and their pills.

It’s not a key or the darkside of the force.

It’s a credit card slipped into the lock of your heart.

It’s not the visions that I had when I was sick.

Or the cynical wit that helps me forget.

It’s not the boxes we put people in.

Or the throats that are cut when we just gotta win.

it’s not the suberbs that stretch out forever.

Or the minimalism in our alarm clock.

Ze kunnen bij je blijven.

Geplakt op je tong met secondelijm.

Ik ben het niet of de dwaas op de heuvel.

Of de kinderen op de hoek met hun drugs en hun pillen.

Het is geen sleutel of de duistere kant van de strijdmacht.

Het is een creditcard die in het slot van je hart is geschoven.

Het zijn niet de visioenen die ik had toen ik ziek was.

Of de cynische humor die me helpt vergeten.

Het zijn niet de dozen waarin we mensen stoppen.

Of de kelen die worden doorgesneden als we gewoon moeten winnen.

het zijn niet de suberbs die zich voor altijd uitstrekken.

Of het minimalisme in onze wekker.
