Everywhere there are people passing by

Empty faces and not a friendly smile

Under stress, loneliness, a part of our city

Now I finally have decided

I will leave it all behind

And discover something better

And l know where I will find

On the highland when I was a child

l would play with my friends and we were wild

And we all loved the moors, the nature and it’s freedom

And we went for ghost hunt in the mist

l remember the first time I got kissed

By the shy neighbour guy, who whispered «be my girlfriend»

But I longed for some excitement

So l travelled 'round the world

After that I seattled down and

l became a city girl

Want to parties every night and lived intensively

Now l know it’s not a life for me

I’ll be waiting on the Highland

Overal komen mensen voorbij

Lege gezichten en geen vriendelijke glimlach

Onder stress, eenzaamheid, een deel van onze stad

Nu heb ik eindelijk besloten

Ik zal het allemaal achterlaten

En ontdek iets beters

En ik weet waar ik zal vinden

Zoek een plek van harmonie, van lachen en dromen

Als je me wilt, dat is waar ik zal zijn

Ik wacht op de Highland

Met zijn heerlijke rust

Waar de sterren gloeien en de beekjes stromen

Op het hoogland toen ik een kind was

Ik speelde met mijn vrienden en we waren wild

En we hielden allemaal van de heide, de natuur en de vrijheid

En we gingen op spokenjacht in de mist

Ik herinner me de eerste keer dat ik werd gekust

Door de verlegen buurman die fluisterde "wees mijn vriendin"

Maar ik verlangde naar wat opwinding

Dus ik reisde de wereld rond

Daarna ging ik zitten en

Ik werd een stadsmeisje

Elke avond willen feesten en intensief geleefd

Nu weet ik dat het geen leven voor mij is

Ik wacht op de Highland

Met zijn heerlijke sereniteit

Waar de sterren gloeien en de beekjes stromen

Dat is mijn manier van leven
