I miss the old dive

We used to find ourselves there every night

Life was so simple then and we didn’t care

The place was filled with people, we could barely see

Back then there was electricity in the wires, in the air

Everyone in their movie playing on screen

If only I could just press rewind

It was our lost and found, a room of our own

But that was the olden days, so long ago

Back in those days you’d drive your car to the corner alone

And check on the mail that was left on your phone

With the guys they’d shake hands

Kiss the girls on the cheek

Hand out addresses, numbers

And then wait for a call

They’d put on their headphones

And type on a screen

Then send a text or write a rhyme

On the bathroom stall

Vroeger waren we er elke avond

Het leven was toen zo eenvoudig en het kon ons niet schelen

De plaats was gevuld met mensen, we konden nauwelijks zien

Destijds zat er elektriciteit in de draden, in de lucht

Iedereen in hun film wordt afgespeeld op het scherm

Kon ik maar op terugspoelen drukken

Ik mis de oude duik

Vroeger waren we er elke avond

Het was onze verloren en gevonden kamer, een eigen kamer

Maar dat was vroeger, zo lang geleden

Vroeger reed je met je auto alleen naar de hoek

En controleer de e-mail die op je telefoon is achtergelaten

Kon ik maar op terugspoelen drukken

Met de jongens schudden ze elkaar de hand

Kus de meisjes op de wang

Adressen, nummers uitdelen

En wacht dan op een telefoontje

Ze zetten hun koptelefoon op

En typ op een scherm

Stuur dan een sms of schrijf een rijm

Op het toilethokje
