Last night in broad daylight

I was covered in blood

mostly from the insides

of the people I love

I woke to find, a sleeplessness unkind

the blue T. V light flickers with a hollow mix of sympathy and scorn

I check she’s lying next to me,

these sleepless fits are dew drops on a lawn

The cracked throat thirst of morning,

your skin as white as snow,

I’ve been a week now falling,

down this rabbit hole

Some things remain, an old familiar stain,

the flashlight fear of evening peaks

as shadows stretch themselves across the floor,

she’ll tell you tales of fortresses

as light it makes its way in through the door

Some thing tells me a morning will come,

it will bleach the night, repair the sun,

it’s something I lost and it’s something found,

until then I will go to ground

'til then I’ll await the sound

of broad daylight

Gisteravond op klaarlichte dag

Ik zat onder het bloed

meestal van binnenuit

van de mensen van wie ik hou

Ik werd wakker en ontdekte een onaardige slapeloosheid

het blauwe T.V-licht flikkert met een holle mix van sympathie en minachting

Ik controleer of ze naast me ligt,

deze slapeloze aanvallen zijn dauwdruppels op een grasveld

De gebarsten keel dorst van de ochtend,

je huid zo wit als sneeuw,

Ik ben nu een week aan het vallen,

in dit konijnenhol

Sommige dingen blijven, een oude vertrouwde vlek,

de zaklampangst voor avondpieken

terwijl schaduwen zich over de vloer uitstrekken,

ze zal je verhalen vertellen over forten

zo licht baant het zich een weg door de deur

Iets zegt me dat er een ochtend zal komen,

het zal de nacht bleken, de zon herstellen,

het is iets dat ik verloren heb en het is iets gevonden,

tot die tijd ga ik naar de grond

tot die tijd wacht ik op het geluid

van klaarlichte dag
